San Francisco to Host 1st Annual Artisan Fragrance Salon on July 8th, 2012 {Scented Paths & Fragrant Addresses}

The city where contemporary natural perfumery pioneer Mandy Aftel lives together with several other independent perfumers like Ineke Rühland, Yosh Han or Fred Hass, will host the 1st Annual Artisan Fragrance Salon on July 8th, 2012. The event underlines the dynamism of a branch of perfumery which could have disappeared in the 19th century with the wide use of synthetic aromatic molecules. Contrary to logical expectations, this school of perfumery has even found new impetus in the ecological movement and has become reinforced by the concern about organic-grade standards...

Natural perfumes have become a symbol of purity.

The American school of natural perfumery has been particularly active in the last few years with many new labels being born. The profile of this type of perfumery in the US is characterized by its artisan character, a fact which is not repercuted in Europe where natural, even organic perfumery is produced more at an industrial scale although grassroots labels exist.

The SF Artisan Salon while giving a prominent place to perfumery is more generally about hunting down aromas wherever they may be in wine, literature, food...

"Featuring a quality selection chosen and curated by the Organizers, the 1st Annual ARTISAN FRAGRANCE SALON participants include local, regional and national fragrance makers, as well as Salon highlights featuring olfactory tastings, panels and demonstrations, new product launches, author talks, wine pairings, an art exhibition, and book signings."
