Réminiscence Oud (2013): A Return to the Art of Perfuming Oneself {New Perfume}

French niche jewelry and perfume brand Réminiscence are preparing to launch their own oud interpretation from mid-February 2013. This dark, woody Oriental note has taken Western perfumery by storm and the vogue is not ebbing, au contraire. After their iconic Patchouli, but also Musc, Ambre and more recently Vanille, the next installment is Oud...

For the accessories label, the move is tagged as "a return to the art of perfuming oneself" which might mean a number of things, among them the fact that this concoction will clearly not stand as a "non-perfume".

 The composition is signed by perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin who has been particularly active and versatile in his approach to perfumery lately signing or co-signing Womanity by Thierry Mugler, but also several scents at Jo Malone {See Blackberry & Bay} and Diptyque {See Volutes}.

The first time the perfumer's work was featured on this blog was back in 2006 for his very confidential yet noteworthy fragrance composition for Lithuanian fashion label Juozas Statkevicius.

Around Oud by Réminiscence, the nose said that,

"The oud material for me is a sensual, rich and fascinating wood. I wanted to work upon it by overdosing it, in all of its facets and all of its modernity for Réminiscence."

This comment tends to indicate to us that the perfume will not be one of the more "polite" ouds to be launched, a choice for some like for Juliette Has a Gun Midnight Oud.

The eau de parfum opens on top notes of bergamot, cardamom, pink peppercorn followed by a heart of saffron, Turkish rose, and jasmine petals before deepening with a rich base composed of sandalwood, cedar wood, cashmere wood, fir balsam, cypriol, gaiac wood, labdanum, tonka bean.

A 100 ml EDP bottle will be priced at 94€ in 2013.
