For two evenings, Angelenos will be able to attend two screenings of Perfume The Story of a Murderer by Tom Tykwer. Perfumer Christophe Laudamiel, the creator of the scents for the "scent track" of the movie - it was actually never used that way in a technical sense, but rather as companion perfumes - will be in attendance with a fresh batch of the Thierry Mugler coffret of perfumes launched when the movie was released...

"Eyeworks will host the screenings at its Beverly Boulevard store and, along with with L.A. perfume boutique Scent Bar, will host private pre-show parties. International Flavors and Fragrance, which stores the recipes, whipped up new batches for the occasion. The scents will be distributed to the audience manually, on card-stock strips."

This is still artisanal "scent tracking," but it's a start.

The event is organized by the Institute of Art and Olfaction
