Gucci will launch a new unisex fragrance for both men and women this summer of 2014 called Gucci Oud...

It is reportedly a reworking of traditional Oriental materials, with a Western twist.

Oud has been the king ingredient of perfumery in the last few years and it seems impossible for any house now to resist the urge to propose their own oud interpretation.

We are living a veritable after-oud era in olfactory terms.

Gucci creative director Frida Giannini explained her choice of a unisex signature as well as her inspiration,

There are some things that are not defined by gender, but by mood. Gucci Oud is one of these. I wanted to create a fragrance that would evoke the sense you get when in a mysterious, captivating and unfamiliar land - when you are seduced by a curious experience, and dream of it afterwards.

Gucci Oud Eau de Parfum features a specially sourced Laotian oud for the fashion label, which is reportedly 100% natural.

The scent opens on top notes of Pear, Raspberry, and Saffron introducing an opulent floral bouquet of Bulgarian Rose and Orange Flower. Amber, Musk, and Patchouli especially, underline the vibrancy of Oud in the composition.

The flacon reprises the heavy, smoky glass of Gucci by Gucci (2007) which has become the signature bottle of the house.
