Demeter Baby's Head (2015): The Olfactory Charms of Biology {New Fragrance}

demeter_babys_head_2015.jpg Demeter will introduce a new fragrance from March 2015 which is called Baby's Head. This is not a baby's cologne, rather it replicates the scent of a baby's crown in the first 6 weeks of its life...

Scientific research shows that there is a distinctive smell to very young infants which fades away after 6 weeks. It is not clear yet where this comes from with several hypotheses being offered. The end result is that both new moms and non moms are responsive to the smell even when it's been transferred to pyjamas with not a baby in sight.

Demeter stated that Baby's Head has been in the works for 15 years. It's one of the most requested fragrance projects sent to the brand.

This new perfume can be seen as one of those "biological scents" which are integrated in perfumery like blood, sweat, saliva, tears, sperm, urine, and more.
