American fashion designer Vera Wang has released a new perfume in the Princess series called Princess Revolution...

Aimed at tweens, teens, and cross-age wearers, this is a collection of whimsical perfumes which started in 2006 at the same time as Nina by Nina Ricci which had a similar focus. 10 years later, both are still alive and well showing that the category has been a fertile one.

As is part of the branding of this franchise, the tone is tongue-in-cheek rebellious,

« Princess Revolution Eau de Toilette spray by Vera Wang is for the confident, edgy and rebellious. She's found the perfect balance of rock and romance. She likes punk music and she's a bit avant-garde. Her only rule is to never follow any rules. »

The new blend features a fashionable note of cherry, a scent which has come to define our idea of how young women in bloom waft in designer perfumery.

As cherry cultivation is undergoing an agricultural crisis this summer in Europe, the note might be perceived all the better as belonging squarely in the semiotics of luxury.

Top notes are Black cherry, blood orange and watermelon sorbet followed by a heart of Lily of the valley, red apple blossom, and jasmine while the base rests on Atlas cedarwood and amberwood.

SRP is $60 for 1 .7 fl oz.
