Sean John Eau de Toilette by Sean John
Music mogul and entrepreneur Sean John will launch a new fragrance for men from October 2016 called just Sean John with the tag line « Always Sean John »...
Behind the Scenes
The business man made his mark on the fragrance industry with the bestseller Unforgivable. By contrast, his last release 3 AM is said to have flopped. The unisex perfume was launched together with an advertising campaign that was filled with machismo and violence, which may have worked to his disadvantage, if you can assume that women have a say in choosing fragrances for guys. The new scent is re-centering on his own image rather than presenting him as an icon of the bad boy archetype. It's also going back to a smoldering, brooding and dark look with a black bottle - a total turnaround from the transparent white of 3 AM.
The edt is said to be clean and masculine. John explained,
"There are always a lot of different trends and sometimes fragrances smell like other fragrances. From the get-go, we tried to represent something that was cool and clean, and we always kept our signature bergamot in," he said. "You can go in so many different directions with fragrances, but if you have a point of view, I think that's how you build a brand."
Perfumer Harry Fremont of Firmenich concocted the jus which opens on top notes of bergamot, mandarin, watermint and black pepper leading to a heart of nutmeg, violet leaves, cardamom and angelica root while the base rests on amber, vanilla, musk, sandalwood, amberwood and coumarin.
P. Diddy may not feature women in his ads this time around but that does not mean that he has set aside the seduction factor of any self-respecting, efficacious perfume,
"It has a sophistication that gives the vibe of a great men's fragrance. It's not too strong. It's soft and clean, but it's a memorable scent for when you are around a young lady or just trying to smell good."
Prices are $70 for a 3.4-oz. For an eau de toilette spray and $39 for a 1-oz. eau de toilette spray.
