New & New-To-The-US Fragrances by Yves Rocher: Altika, Jardins des Iles, Désir de Pivoine, Eau de Cologne Verveine {New Perfumes}

Yves Rocher fragrances can be surprisingly good, the more so since their price points are extremely reasonable. The brand employs excellent, even great perfumers, thus discreetly developing a democratic ideal for perfume-wearing. Not all of their scents are immediately available in the US, but when they do, it is worth trying them.

In a very timely fashion, as Father's Day on June 17 is approaching, a new men's scent called Altikä is now available in the US. It is described as a fresh woody cologne with notes of ozone, polar mint, and cedar. It is inspired by the sensation of intense mountain winds in the Alps. It retails $21 for 2.5 oz....

Jardins des Iles (Gardens of the Islands) is an alcohol-free body mist based on the aroma of Tahitian Monoï. It retails $5 for 4.2 oz.

In France, Yves Rocher has launched Pur Désir de Pivoine (Pure Desire of Peony) in their series Pur Désir De, which focuses each time on a different soliflore. It retails 16.70 Euros for 60 ml.

Another fresh fragrance is a newcomer, an eau de cologne in the European sense, named Eau de Cologne Verveine. It is based on verbena and in particular the Lippia Citriodora varietal which is cultivated in the South East of France and is reputed for being the most aromatic of the verbenas. It retails 14.80 Euros for 125 ml.

Ancillary bath products are available.

    • Altika by Yves Rocher appears to be discontinued. Try finding it on discount, bidding sites or aim for a substitute. Masculine colognes created for daily wear rather than statement are often repeated across brands. So, I'd advise going through the men's perfumery section. Look for colognes with "icy", "cool" or "fresh" in their names to narrow it down. Check on notes and see if "ozone" or "mint" are included.
