Sneak Peek at Parisienne by Yves Saint Laurent (2009): Fronted by Kate Moss {New Perfume} {Celebrity Fragrance}

Added 08/17/09: Review of Parisienne by YSL

Following yesterday's tip regarding the name of the next feminine fragrance from Yves Saint Laurent fronted by Kate Moss, we got a confirmation today that the next feminine perfume by Yves Saint Laurent is indeed called Parisienne (without the definite article "la"), with a picture to boot!

Many thanks to Linda from the Netherlands thanks to whom we can all get a first sneak peek at the perfume bottle before its official launch in the fall!...

WienerBlut Klubwasser (2009): For the Love of 19th Century Vienna {New Perfume - New Line}

WienerBlut is a new Austrian perfume brand interested in resurrecting popular bouquets that were worn on handkerchiefs in 19th century Vienna like the modern survivor Mouchoir de Monsieur by Guerlain. It takes its name which literally means "Viennese Blood" from a waltz by Johann Strauss II created in 1873 which was reportedly on every Viennese's lips. It ultimately also became the title of an operette-anthology of Strauss's work in 1899.

As we can see this is a very Viennese affair,

"WienerBlut is an Austrian label dedicated to the production of authentic luxury goods of Viennese provenance."...

"Without permitting anyone else to lay a hand on him, the lady herself washed Salabaetto all over with soap scented with musk and cloves. She then had herself washed and rubbed down by the slaves. This done, the slaves brought two fine and very white sheets, so scented with roses that they seemed like roses; the slaves wrapped Salabaetto in one and the lady in the other and then carried them both on their shoulders to the bed . . . Perfume Expo America in NYC: New Dates: June 30-July 2, 2009 {Fragrance News}

The beauty event organized by Perfume Expo America is now going to take place from June 30th to July the 2nd 2009 at the Hilton Americas New York instead of June 11-12 for those who might be able to make it at those new dates.

Laurent Assoulen at the Châtelet Theater in Paris, June 8, 2009: Olfactory Music Concert {Scented Paths & Fragrant Addresses - Perfume & Art}

Jazz composer Laurent Assoulen is giving a concert at the Théâtre du Châtelet on June 8, 2009 at 9 pm which is at once a musical event and an olfactory one. Perfumer Guillaume Flavigny (Balmain Ambre Gris, La Môme, Dali Little Kiss, Charriol...) of Givaudan is the nose behind the fragrance compositions that establish a system of Baudelairean correspondences with the music. Rimbaud's synesthetic poetry is evoked as well.

L'Artisan Parfumeur Cote d'Amour (2009): The Risk of the Central Perfume Motif, with a Comparative Note on Diorissimo {Perfume Review} {New Fragrance}

Côte d'Amour is the latest L'Artisan Parfumeur from their 100% natural and organic series to come with Ecocert and Cosmebio certifications. As June 5, 2009 is international Environment Day to be celebrated on a global scale with the launch in 130 countries of the earth movie Home by Yann Arthus-Bertrand co-produced by Luc Besson and François-Henri Pinault of PPR, this is a fitting fragrance to consider wearing as a tribute, and beyond the gesture consider the interest of a new school of perfumes.

For those who cannot make it to the movies on Friday, the film which looks simply stunning from the preview images (see website), will be available on You Tube as this is a social project rather than a financial one (entry fees are waved or nominal - 2 € in Europe). The movie is meant to call attention to the unique beauty of planet earth, the dangers that beset it and the possible venues to remedy the issues at hand, chief amongst them climate warming. Yann Arthus-Bertrand has become famous for his breathtakingly beautiful aerial landscape photography, and although Côte d'Amour strikes a more intimate, familial chord it also manages to encompass in its own way the atmosphere of a long stretch of summery northern beach coast with the application of just a few drops of perfume. Moreover it does so with the same good intentions and to satisfy ethically-oriented customers...

La Rose Dans Tous Ses Etats by Jean Kerleo June 6th 2009 at the Osmotheque {Scented Paths & Fragrant Addresses}

Perfumer Jean Kerléo will offer a lecture entitled "La rose dans tous ses états" (The Rose in All its States) on June 6th, 2009 from 2:30 pm to 5 pm at the Osmothèque in Versailles. The topic is the rose material, the varietals used in perfumery (from Morocco, Grasse, Bulgaria...), the processes of extraction, its fine-fragrance incarnations etc. The conference includes practical smelling sessions.

Designer Lolita Lempicka is preparing to introduce a new women's perfume called Si Lolita presenting all the trappings of the magical Lempicka universe but this time the woman that is envisioned is not so much an otherworldly creature than an adorable Parisian living in an enchanted and enchanting Paris "...smiling to a passer-by for nothing, running towards her love with, in her sillage, this wonderful perfume of happiness, Si Lolita".

The perfume is presented as a "revisited masculine" and an illustration of the "cheeky temperament that spices have when put in the feminine". The perfume is said to rely on the secret fresh spiciness of sweet pea...
