Time to Christmas Shop! Part 5 {Perfumed List - 2012 Holidays Gift Guide}

For a novel take on the incense burner, check out these Scent Spheres in ceramic decorated with the art of Fornasetti. They accept three perfume carriers: diffusing oil, scented rocks and incense sticks. The scents were blended by renowned perfumer Olivier Polge, the son of Jacques Polge from Chanel (£195 - $320) Available at united-perfumes.com, Barney's, L'Eclaireur...

Comme des Garçons are offering a limited-edition run of three of their most popular perfumes in a special collection called By The Sea. The typical CDG bottles have been hand-painted by German artist Sandra Korn for Holidays 2012. She happens to live by the sea, in Hossegor in the South-West of France, which inspired her creations. The perfumes are Wonderwood, CDG2, Amazingreen (88€ each) Colette, online.

Phoenix Botanicals have a special Love Potion {See Love Potions} perfume oil which seems to be flying off the shelves. They're on a few days break, so cross your fingers if you foresee this phial ready to be slipped into one of your Xmas stockings. Vanilla, Ylang-Ylang, clove, all that strengthened with an infusion of rose quartz. Packaging is bio-degradable (14€) Colette, Etsy.

Annick Goutal Nuit Etoilée is the new Christmas-y perfume of note that has appeared in 2012. It's a poem of a perfume. Moody, atmospheric, intricate, with echoes of old-school perfumery as found in La Fuite de Heures, but also Annick Goutal's own Mon Parfum Chéri par Camiile, yet fresh like a Modern. Delicious amber and herbaly accents mix for the creation of a soft white fur stole of a scent laid out on a carpet of pine needles in cold, cold Siberia while a woman smokes holding a telescopic cigarette-holder. The amphora-like bottle is for women, the standard square-shouldered one is for men, design-wise only. For the Holidays, a giant square flacon is available in 450 ml (pictured above) as well as a ball-shaped one topped with a golden butterfly. The jus itself is unisex. (From 85€) Annickgoutal.com
