Tom Ford Private Blend Rollerball Collection Gift Set {Fragrance News}: Wind of Change?

Tom-Ford-Private-Blend-Samples.jpgNiche perfumery is becoming increasingly mainstream as the forums, blogs and magazines attest to the phenomenon, yet sampling some of the more selective and highly-priced brands can still remain a challenge; traditionally this is considered to be part of the game.

Yet the elitist Frederic Malle brand has recently taken the step of making their perfumes available to a larger audience by setting up an online sample program; It has the advantage of being both flexible and low-cost as the price tag covers shipping only...

Tom Ford Private Blend has now decided to inch towards wider accessibility as well by launching a limited-edition gift set for the Holidays comprising all 12 blends from the Private Blend collection in 2 ml sized samples. They are: Amber Absolute, Noir de Noir, Velvet Gardenia, Black Violet, Tobacco Vanille, Oud Wood, Purple Patchouli, Bois Rouge, Moss Breches, Tuscan Leather, Neroli Portofino and Japan Noir. The price tag of 200 Euros and $ 225, a little over the price of their first size at $165 (last year), however reflects a difference: this is an elegantly packaged gift to yourself or others, not just a practical sample program.

Frederic Malle Editions de Parfums first issued a luxury set comprising generous samples in February 2008 then followed suit this fall with something more practical. Let's hope that Tom Ford is testing the waters and will follow a similar course of action in the future.

Hello,

I believe the new Tom Ford set it actually a set of concentrated oils, not the regular EDP's, that are meant to be worn on "pulse points." At least that was the chatter on MUA a while ago...

I asked a Tom Ford PR in the US and they didn't seem to know about this set. It might be marketed to Europe?
