Lady Gaga's Perfume is Called Fame & Oozes Black Fluid (2012) {New Perfume} {Celebrity Fragrance}

lady_gaga_fame_perfume.jpgLady Gaga's perfume has been unveiled: it's called Fame, which is what celebrity fragrances are all about, so it's iconic from the get-go. Next, the bottle looks like a "little monster" of sorts - to borrow from Gaga's terminology - and seemingly inspired by the lines of Alexander Mc Queen fashion, a designer that the musician and performance artist wears often. You can especially detect the influence of the towering Armadillo shoes...

But it's also about the talons Gaga sports.

Third, the juice is black and has its own special name, "Black Fluid". It reportedly has the property of changing color once it touches the skin. They do not go as far as saying that it is going to reveal your mood like mood rings, but if they could, they probably would.

The idea of a perfume which is more like paint or an aquarelle color was done previously with Boudicca Wode and Serge Lutens Sarrasins.

The provocation is also palpable in the words of Gaga herself who manages to say that her blood is in the perfume without really being there yet it's there. It's not her semen evidently though. Whose is it? An anonymous donor? Will the perfume mix the semen of a fan with the blood of Gaga to make it feel complete? But most importantly, it's about "the feeling and sense of blood and semen from molecular structures". We hope she will be able to promote her perfume with an interpreter or a scientist adept at vulgarizationby her side to help it break it down for us. The perfumer's job was to come up with an "expensive hooker" accord.

"It was taken out of my own blood sample so it’s a sense of having me on your skin, I wanted to extract sort of the feeling and sense of blood and semen from molecular structures, so that’s where [the rumours] came from. That is in the perfume but it doesn’t smell like that, Actually the perfume smells like an expensive hooker."

  1. Wow! From the bottle to the 'Black Fluid' I am intrigued by this fragrance ... and a little scared! They don't give much away about the scent; I hope it is as creative as its marketing!

    • I just added a new post today on Fame, with more information on the notes. Yes, you're not even really sure if the perfume is going to smell good at least :) This bottle could contain an offensive scent...with this forbidding look

  2. Wow, is it like homeopathy, she kind of showed the perfume her blood and it took on some mystical quality? Does it smell like iron/rust? I kind of like that rust scent, but still, the semen -- I guess this is for the teen goth market, which is huge. Her market is huge. She has the best advice money can buy, so here's hoping it's not all for naught. I think she is trying too hard for Madonna's persona with this perfume. Maybe next time, and there will be one, she will calm down and do something glamorous and rich.

    • I guess we'll learn more as the unveil progresses. They could have headspaced her blood to be able to say that it smells of her own blood and then added that accord to create an interesting nuance. Etat Libre d'Orange Rossy de Palma is a perfume which is a rose chypre scent with a tinge of iron-smelling blood. I like your comparison to rust which is very apt by the way.

      The teen Goth market, as you point out very rightly, is probably going to lap it up.

      I think that Gaga listens pretty closely to what her fans want, so if she hears a clamor for rich and glamorous, the Gaga way, she'll be happy to oblige, especially, as you pointed out, that she would have been able to demonstrate her "anti-establishment" streak.
