130 Street Photographies after the Paris Attacks - 130 photographies de rue, après les attentats de Paris - In Memoriam
On November 15, 2015, near the Bataclan was a crowded area where it was not easy to photograph as the streets were so densely populated and fluid - but also for emotional reasons; I've never taken so many blurry pictures in my life because I too, I realized, was caught in this process of collective grieving, even in spite of myself...
I was struck by this vision of a young man having come to pay his respects in spite of having his leg in a cast and wondered whether he was one of the survivors from the shooting, although it could be just, say, due to an equestrian accident.
Less than 48 hours after the tragic event, some found the strength to come pay homage to the dead, even though they were physically weakened.
Coming from a perfume culture background, I couldn't help but think that this image made me think of Habit Rouge by Guerlain. It, no doubt, helped me distinguish this young man in the crowd, together with the sense of a body at an odd angle betraying rigidity and frailty, but not lack of strength.
This photo is part of a series capturing the atmosphere of Paris after 11/13 in 130 pictures, one each day for each of the 130 Paris Attack victims.
