The Comité Français du Parfum (CFP) has set up a new website on the occasion of a perfume promotion campaign called Le Parfum, Quelques Gouttes de Luxe, which features in particular a series of video interviews with personalities from the fragrance world (click on "Parfum et Inspiration"). Kern was trained in Paris in the classical tradition of French perfumery. She is also well known as the close friend and collaborator of other Swiss indie perfumer Andy Tauer, whom we have had the pleasure of welcoming on this blog for an interview in the past. Vero Kern currently offers a collection of three perfumes called Rubj, Onda, and Kiki. They are now available, in extraits de parfums versions, directly from her visually arresting website, which has been revamped as a shopping site.......

Parfums de Nicolaï have revamped their website, which now offers more content, illustrations, and a more sophisticated design. It is a commercial website in both French and English and you can order directly from them. They have several upcoming new perfumes and scented home products, including a new line called Les Magnifiques (The Magnificent Ones).
 We recently happened on the site of a young Hungarian perfumer named Zsolt Zolyomi. We asked him if he could tell us a bit more about himself and his brand, Parfums Zsolt Zolyomi. We were interested in knowing what perfumes he had created as we saw that he had been involved in several projects that typically included social events.
It turns out that he is currently hard at work setting up a perfume store in Budapest and being very conscious that this is an area of cultural appreciation that remains to be developed in Hungary, he is directing his efforts in this direction at the moment. His avowed goal is to reconnect with the roots of modern Western perfumery in Hungary, which famously took place in the 14th century with the creation of the Eau de la Reine de Hongrie, a rosemary-based perfume and lotion reputed to have rejuvenated Elizabeth of Kujavia (1305-1380). Apart from that, his style, what we like to think of as a poetico-realistic style nurtured by nostalgia and memories of happiness but not exclusively, perhaps a little bit à la Christopher Brosius in the US, seems to be a strong one at the moment in his work. We are certainly looking forward to smelling a Hungarian summer in the countryside ......

Symrise is organizing an exhibition dedicated to the better understanding of contemporary fragrance culture in Russia called The Future of Fragrance in Russia or alternatively, A Taste of Russia. According to Perfumer & Flavorist Now, For women, floral-fruity scents are traditionally popular, while chypre and floriental fragrances are just emerging. Consumers tend to prefer citrus notes for the freshness they impart, while fruity notes are a “must.” Conversely, women tend to dislike rich, opulent, classical and excessively heavy scents.......

Etat Libre d'Orange is preparing to launch a new perfume this Saturday September 22 2007 and this time it is inspired by a celebrity, Spanish actress Rossy de Palma. The jus is called Eau de Protection in reference to its attributed talismanic properties. Rossy de Palma who is perhaps best known for her role in Almodovar's film, Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown, has also recently been behind the camera for a creative publicity movie for Aignier done in the French new wave style.........

Two places worthy of visiting for the perfumista are the new Divine boutique in Paris and come December, the Salon Divinessence in Paris also that will hold court on the 8th and 9th of 2007. Divine perfumes, which originally hail from Brittany and were recently only available in Paris at the Bon Marché are now enshrined in a new boutique, whose manager and owner is the wife of the founder of the brand, Yvon Mouchel.
