130 Street Photographies after the Paris Attacks - 130 photographies de rue, après les attentats de Paris - In Memoriam
When the café Bonne Bière reopened its doors three weeks after the horrific events of November 13, patrons new and old were glad to be part of this life affirming gesture. As we speak, of all the bistrots targeted by an international terrorist organization, only two have reopened, the other being Comptoir Voltaire...
Under a surface of normality, you can sense that a lot is going on in people's minds.
In a way it is symbolically apt that there is this metallic barrier standing there. It makes the point, by accident, that this terrace was a war trench and may still be one. It is like during the Great War of 1914-1918, you stayed in your trenches and waited and waited for a new wave of attacks from the ennemy. It's a waiting game in many ways for the civilians, who have no training to resist.
To me in this picture, the persons outside and inside the café look normal yet not normal.
This photo is part of a series capturing the atmosphere of Paris after 11/13 in 130 pictures, one each day for each of the 130 Paris Attack victims.
