130 Street Photographies after the Paris Attacks - 130 photographies de rue, après les attentats de Paris - In Memoriam

Less than 10 days after the Paris Attacks, here's a scene you could spot by the Bataclan concert hall: a young woman suddenly throwing herself into a corner and hiding behind a garbage bin so as to be able to let go of her overwhelming emotions in peace...

She was choking with tears, breaking down, just in control enough to sit down on the curb and hide away to do so. Soon, she checked herself however, tightly pulling back her hair into a ponytail as if to pull herself, with her hands, out of her sorrow, hiding her face further down into her woolen scarf. She gave the impression that she must have known one of the victims who had died - or that she was a survivor herself.

It was quick but it reveals the psychological trauma experienced by some of the "impliqués" as the official French terminology goes, i.e., the ones who were implicated as witnesses and participants to the events.

Some relate they were cautious not to look around as they were freed by the RAID and BRI who advised them to keep their eyes up on the ceiling, while others said they couldn't help themselves and had to look.

You can choose to look or not.

This photo is part of a series capturing the atmosphere of Paris after 11/13 in 130 pictures, one each day for each of the 130 Paris Attack victims.
