130 Street Photographies after the Paris Attacks - 130 photographies de rue, après les attentats de Paris - In Memoriam

On the eve of a national commemoration dedicated to the memory of fallen Parisians whose life ended savagely in 2015 as they were going about that business of everyday life which is a symbol of the cultivated life or art de vivre and freedom of spirit the world over, the Place de la République was getting ready to become once more a national theatre of French history...

Giant screens tested their slideshows with president François Hollande making an appearance as dusk settled over the esplanade.

The place has become a veritable hearth where Parisians and the French go to warm their hearts and feel a sense of communion. There is this sense of grandeur set against an atmosphere of normalcy thanks to skateboarders, couples, children whizzing by on scooters, families shooting the breeze - and even the occasional shouting mad man talking to himself, listened by no one yet tolerated by everybody as if République had kept the spirit of an old-time village.

This photo is part of a series capturing the atmosphere of Paris after 11/13 in 130 pictures, one each day for each of the 130 Paris Attack victims.
