Susan G. Komen Promise Me Formula to be Retired, but not the Fragrance - Update {Fragrance News}

promise_me.jpg

After relaying the news from Daily Financial that Promise Me by the Susan G. Komen Foundation was bound to be retired due to and hazardous-ingredients issue, we received a response from the foundation, with more information to deny the discontinuation and express their point of view.

Their official position seems to be that while Susan G. Komen's scientists have tested and found nothing endangering with the levels at which the incriminated ingredients are used - there are actually 6 of them detailed after the jump - the foundation want to show that they set the bar high and will therefore change the formulation of the fragrance. Heidi Klum's Photo Opp for Her New Fragrance Shine {Perfume News} {Celebrity Scent}

heidi_klum_Photo_opp.jpgSupermodel, super mom and super woman Heidi Klum called a photo opp (September 28, 2011) to mark the launch of her new fragrance Shine. The sunflower bouquets you see floating on the blue pool of the Mondrian in Los Angeles are an allusion to the sunflower note in the heart of the perfume.

Inspired by a luminous compliment her husband Seal is used to making to her, "You shine", the scent itself comes across as superiorly well-crafted, feeling like it is much more than the sum of its parts...

emily_blunt_sept_2011_ok.jpgActress Emily Blunt arrives at "Salmon Fishing In The Yemen" Premiere at Princess Of Wales during the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, 2011 in Toronto, Canada.

Yves Saint Laurent announced that they will launch a new advertising campaign for Opium, their iconic Oriental perfume from the artificial-paradise side of the 1970s. The new leading lady to be the face for the fragrance is British actress Emily Blunt, an unexpected choice if you think of her role as the young Queen Victoria, but closer to home if you envision her as Harriet in Salmon Fishing in the Yemen where the story does play upon the trope of British reserve set against a more smouldering Arabian backdrop...

Madonna Truth or Dare Perfume Already Christened & Bottled {Celebrity Fragrance}

Madonna_Truth_or_Dare.jpgA moment of evocative olfactory malaise in Truth or Dare, if you carry a US citizenship card/ In Bed with Madonna, if you are living in promiscuous Europe.

Last time we reported the news that Madonna was in "serious talks" with Coty to develop her signature perfume. According to Lisa Tant of Flare magazine, the fragrance has already been nailed. Its name is Truth or Dare, taking its title from the documentary that depicted Madonna during her Blond Ambition World Tour in 1990. But you can also choose to read in-between the lines as the documentary was called more boldly "In Bed with Madonna" outside of the US. And Tant got to take a first sniff of the perfume....

Madonna & Fragrance: A Happy Ending with Coty? {Fragrance News} {Celebrity Perfume}

madonna.jpgMadonna and Fragrance, might be the title of a beauty saga spanning the years, of which we know only a few passages. Hmm, Madame Glamour by Lidl or Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel? {Fragrance News}

suddenly_madame_glamour.jpgA media report has it that a fragrance smell-alike of Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel called Suddenly Madame Glamour (you just need a spritz and you are suddenly glamorous) unconventionally distributed by the Soviet-store-of-yesteryear-inspired German supermarket Lidl is experiencing a smashing success. Why? Because blind test panels have all voted for the Lidl expression of Coco Mademoiselle, available for a fraction of the price...
