In a new twist on their already ostentatious Amphora fountains, in a novel take which even Donald Trump might think might be perfectly showcased by the shiny golden walls of his pad, the brand proposes a Chandelier Amphora edition ($2,500 for 42 fl oz)...

Don't you love discovering a new niche perfume house which is truly flying under the radar (I have a second one coming up and maybe a third and a fourth)? I just happened on the site of a new fragrance brand with definite roots in Grasse while being officially located in Paris, in the Place Vendôme. It was set up a year ago and opened for business 10 days ago. A more general advertising campaign is planned from February 2011. Brecourt was founded by perfumer Emilie Bouge whom I happen to have listed in my work-in-progress: Directory of Perfumers, Artistic Directors and Designers. The co-founder is her sister Marie-Eugénie Bouge who acts as artistic director for the house. Both are graduates of the school of perfumery ISIPCA and come from a two-century-old family of Grassois noses. Perfumer Jean-Marie Santantoni is said to have collaborated with Emilie Bouge on the fragrances. He is the author of Calvin Klein Escape for Women, Ralph Lauren, Rykiel Homme...

It is animated by 5th generation Johnson family member Fisk Johnson diffusing the message that SC Johnson are staunch believers in family values and therefore, transparency of information, “The truth is, companies often don’t have to tell you everything that’s in their products,” said Chairman and CEO Fisk Johnson, the fifth generation leader of SC Johnson. “But we’re a family company that believes in working hard to do what’s right for the families who buy our products – and one of the things that means is being transparent with what’s in our products.”...

This post could be titled "The angst of birthing a celebrity fragrance" According to WWD, burlesque icon Dita Von Teese, who is now living between Paris and LA, has been shopping around for a fragrance deal. A triggering event has reportedly been her relationship with her new beau, Louis-Marie de Castelbajac, the son of Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, whose mother happens to be wearing the same signature scent as hers, the relatively less well-known classic Quelques Fleurs by Houbigant, a direct ancestor to Chanel No.5...

While some North-American activists may want to finish the sentence One Drop (of Perfume) and You're...Dead or as good as dead (see for example here and here and here), it is precisely on the very soil of contestation that the Fragrance Foundation America have decided to sensitize people to the inoffensive yet potent beauties of perfume by launching last year their One Mighty Drop campaign...
