What Are You IN2? Enter A Short Movie Competition by Calvin Klein For A Chance To Win $10 000 {Fragrance News}

To accompany the launch of their latest releases, CK IN2U for Her and Him, Calvin Klein is attempting to better understand/promote the so-called "techno-sexual" generation, a controversial expression they used in their advertising campaign for the new scents. To do this, they are proposing a competition in which participants are asked to answer the question "What are you IN2? The top 3 will receive $1000 and the winner, $10 000......

French Fifi Awards Grand Prix du Parfum 2007 (& 2006) (Updated) {Fragrance News}

The French Fifi Awards, renamed the Grand Prix du Parfum (Grand Perfume Prize) in 2006 so that the import of the event would be better grasped by the French public, selected winners amongst 81 finalists in its 15th edition on April 5th 2007. According to the French Fragrance Foundation press release, 1300 members of the industry were asked to cast their votes and almost 50% of them responded, which is considered to be a very good proportion.

The categories that are judged differ from country to country.

In France the finalists were:

Meilleur Parfum Féminin (Best feminine perfume)
Armani Code / Giorgio Armani
Chypre Rouge, Gris Clair /Serge Lutens
Kenzoamour / Kenzo
Nina / Nina Ricci
L de Lolita Lempicka / Lolita Lempicka

Meilleur Parfum Masculin (Best masculine perfume)
Antidote/ Viktor & Rolf
Encre Noire / Lalique
L'Homme / Yves Saint Laurent
Prada Amber / Prada
Terre / Hermès......

The International Perfume Museum in Grasse Will Reopen in 2008 {Fragrance News} {Scented Paths & Fragrant Addresses}

The Musée International de la Parfumerie de Grasse will reopen in early 2008 after having closed in December of 2005 to conduct its renovation project. The new museum will have doubled its size to 3000 m2 and will be organized around three locations: the Hôtel Morel-Amic, an 18th century building, the Pélissier building, and the existing museum. The architect for the project is Frédéric Joung.The ARMIP (Association for the International Perfume Museum), led by perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, has contributed to the project.

The permanent collection will be curated by Marie-Christine Grasse.

Norma Kamali Opens A Wellness Café Centering On Olive Oil {Scented Paths & Fragrant Addresses} {Fragrant Recipes}

Norma Kamali was brought up enjoying olive oil on a daily basis thanks to her Lebanese mother and Spanish father, but two years ago, her passion blossomed and she started developing an expertise in olive oil. She has now opened a café in New York city which offers a series of specialties based on olive oil and floral Mediterranean flavors. Here is what is on the menu:

"...olive oil ice cream, and a light olive oil and lavender short bread — garnished with lavender leaves. The Bryant Park Grill is supplying an aromatic rose meringue parfait, olive oil cupcakes with a hint of spice and lavender marshmallows that are as light as air....

Article by Luca Turin On A New Formulation Of Guerlain Mitsouko by Edouard Fléchier {Fragrance News}

We had said several times on TSS that Mitsouko by Guerlain had come to smell simply appalling compared to the original version (especially, but not only, in the edt version).

 

Luca Turin has announced in his regular column in NZZ Folio that Guerlain had been going back to the drawing board and that Mitsouko has now been reformulated by perfumer Edouard Fléchier (Davidoff, Poison, Acqua Di Gio, Une Rose....). He says that he personally might even prefer the new version to the classic one......

New Online Perfume Magazine: Sniffapalooza Magazine {Fragrance News}

Sniffapalooza is a well-known institution among perfume lovers. It is a periodic gathering of fragrance aficionados that meet to literally sniff until they drop and listen to talks from professionals from the industry. Now editor Raphaella Brescia has set up a magazine under the auspices of Sniffapalooza called Sniffapalooza Magazine.
