News in Brief: Zac Posen To Launch Women's Perfume {Fragrance News}

Zac Posen has signed a contract with Selective Beauty to develop a new women's perfume to be launched in the spring of 2009. It will be unveiled early to a happy few during fashion week in New York in September of 2008. (via Weekend.be)

Public Interest Announcement Regarding Serge Lutens Fragrances Sold on eBay (Updated) {Fragrance News}

 
It has come to my attention that Shiseido, which owns Serge Lutens fragrances, have undertaken legal actions against eBay and sellers in particular that have sold flacons of Louve and Sarrasins on eBay. I have been told that they are also looking for the persons who bought them and would appreciate it if these persons would contact them before they are contacted by their own people. They reiterated that it is not legal to procure these perfumes at this point as the fragrances are not yet on the market. There was also an issue with a stolen shipment, which makes people who buy these perfumes potential accomplices for handling stolen goods.

In fact, our previous announcement about availability at La Mûre Favorite poses a problem because they are not allowed to sell Louve online at this point. I was told that the Palais Royal Shiseido has Louve only for members of the press to sniff.

Iris Pallida 2007 by L'Artisan Parfumeur {New Perfume} L'Eté en Douce, Chez Moi {Fragrance News}

In October of 2007 L'Artisan Parfumeur will introduce its third installment in its series of perfumes dedicated to choice vintage harvests. After Fleur d'Oranger 2005, Fleur de Narcisse 2006, it will be the turn of Iris Pallida 2007 based in principle on the most selective type of iris to be had. It is described as a floral-woody fragrance and was created by Anne Flipo........

Note Ambrée by Martine Micallef {New Perfume} Private Line for Douglas {Fragrance News}

Martine Micallef is preparing to launch a new perfume called Note Ambrée (Amber-y Note). It is part of its most recent line of perfumes called Les Notes established to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the brand and which already comprises Note Vanillée and Note Poudrée (seen in picture). These scents are sold accompanied with a CD of music.......

The Tom Ford brand continues to be on a fast track expansion with no less than four upcoming releases: Tom Ford for Men, Tom Ford for Men Extreme, Black Orchid Voile de Fleur, and an as of yet unnamed women's perfume to be launched in the spring of 2008. As previously reported, Tom Ford is interested in establishing brand recognition in the sphere of fragrances as quickly as humanly possible and is doing everything in order to be perceived as a leading perfume house with a substantial catalogue of creations to boot, which means 16 in just one year.....

Relaunch of Montaigne by Caron {Fragrance News}

Starting this September, Caron capitalizing on established values rather than aiming to create new ones, will distribute more widely its best-seller women's perfume in boutique called Montaigne (1986) in order to attract greater attention to its feminine line of fragrances.

"Today, Caron is well-known for its fragrances for men, and in particular for Pour un Homme although 31 out of its 35 fragrances sold in its own boutiques are for women. Some 60% of brand turnover comes from men’s fragrances, 25% women’s scents and 15% powders,"

New Perfume Museum Opens in Saint-Petersburg, Russia {Fragrance News} {Scented Paths & Fragrant Addresses}

The Russian news agency Regnum has announced that a new perfume museum has opened its doors yesterday in the ancient capital of the tsars in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. It is located on the territory of the Severnoe Siyanie (Aurora Borealis) perfume manufactory plant. The collection comprises unique artifacts of the art of perfumery from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, cosmetics from the revolutionary and war periods, samples of fine Soviet perfumes, including legendary ones.....

Vogue Magazine Loses Trademark Battle Over Exclusive Rights To Vogue Fragrance {Fragrance News}

Conde Nast, the proprietor of Vogue Magazine, who is interested in expanding this prestigious brand-name into perfume, toiletries, and cosmetics was forced to back down after a ruling decided against its entitlement to exclusive rights to the name "Vogue" appearing on a perfume bottle. United Toiletries & Cosmetics have been producing a perfume called Vogue since 1982 and their rights have been recognized.

Frédéric Malle Is Going Global {Fragrance News}

Following our post yesterday regarding Frédéric Malle's search for a stand-alone store in New York city, we now learn that the perfume publisher is expanding globally. After Vancouver (June, within the Holt Renfrew store), Seattle (June), San Francisco (September), it will also enter the Russian market this fall. 70 % of Editions de Parfums' annual sales come from international markets.

Samir Arora, the chairman and CEO of Glam was really happy yesterday - Glam Media, with which The Scented Salamander is syndicated, has been named the new number one online property for women:

"Glam Media today announced its new ranking as number one on the comScore Media Metrix Top 10 Women's Community Web Properties list and the fastest-growing 100 Web property year over year ending May 2007, according to May 2007 data. Overtaking long-time incumbent iVillage/NBC, Glam Media, with a reach of almost 10 percent of the total U.S. online audience and more than 17 million unique visitors a month, manages display and video brand advertising campaigns for hundreds of premium and luxury advertisers through Glam websites and its unique network of publishers.......

Frédéric Malle is Looking for First Storefront in the US {Fragrance News}

 Frédéric Malle is reported to be on the hunt for the perfect stand-alone store in New York city and has been scouring the big apple for six months now. And by the way Bois d'Orage will be available no sooner than October it seems although I had been previously told by their PR that it would launch in the US in June.
