New French Perfume Blog, Parfum-Inoubliable by Thierry Piguet {Fragrance News}

There is a newcomer to the perfume blogosphere called Parfum-Inoubliable (Unforgettable Perfume), a French perfume blog authored by Thierry Piguet. Collector Edition of Terre d'Hermès by Hermès : The H Flacon {New Perfume & Fragrance News}

In order to celebrate the 1st anniversary and great success of Terre d'Hermès, which was composed by perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, Hermès will be launching a limited edition of the fragrance which will be contained in a specially festive packaging.

The flacon will be decorated with a repeating pattern featuring the letter "H", the symbol of the house.

The perfume will be available for 69 Euros.

Kylie Minogue Will Launch Men's Cologne {Fragrance News} {New Perfume} {Celebrity Perfume}

The scoop is that Kylie Minogue's boyfriend Olivier Martinez is partial to Darling and loves to spray it on himself. So much so that it inspired Kylie to want to launch a men's cologne.

Darling has been a great success in the UK: "'Darling' hit the stores last November and outsold many perfumes released by other stars, including Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton."

Ah, l'amour!

A Washington Post Article About M.A. Sillage de la Reine {Fragrant Reading} {Fragrance News}

The Washington Post has published an article about the details of the creation or rather re-creation of M.A. Sillage de la Reine (please see my review of the fragrance), the perfume of Marie Antoinette, by Francis Kukrdjian, an enterprise conducted together with historian Elisabeth de Feydeau:

"When Francis Kurkdjian, one of France's premier perfumers, set out to re-create a fragrance of Marie Antoinette, his greatest fear was that it would stink.

After all, he reasoned, the 21st-century nose might have little tolerance for the potent potions that the famous queen and her royal court used to mask the smells of their opulent but odiferous 18th-century environs at the Chateau de Versailles.....

I just wanted to point out that although the article lays stress on the idea that Marie Antoinette wore heavy perfumes, she is also often credited for introducing a fashion for light or perhaps, if we were to be cautious, lighter floral perfumes given the cultural context of that time. Also, Marie Antoinette did not introduce bathrooms at Versailles. Louis XIV had already one built in 1665 although he preferred to use cologne rather than water to clean himself.

Christina Aguilera To Launch Signature Perfume {Fragrance News}

Singer Christina Aguilera signed a fragrance deal with Procter and Gamble. In 5 years, she is one of several celebrities to follow in J-Lo's footsteps (Please check our Celebrity Fragrance category for more info). She said " I love trying new things in my music and in fashion." [...] "To have a perfume of my own is the beginning of an exciting adventure."

The new fragrance will be released later this year.

The Scented Salamander Has Been Nominated Best Fragrance Blog In The 7th Annual Basenotes Awards {Fragrance News}

Well, ain't it the day! I learned today that The Scented Salamander has (also) been nominated Best Fragrance Blog in the 7th Annual Basenotes Awards. A Look at 2007 in Perfumes {Fragrance News} {New Perfumes}

Here is an early look at the new perfumes to be issued in the year 2007. I am basing myself both on a Russian site called Malenkij Parizh (Little Paris) and on Parfum-Echecs Chez Alice (Perfume-Chess at Alice's). This is a selective list and there are more. Some of the upcoming 2007 fragrance releases that, in particular, I have not already cited on TSS include:

• Dolly Girl Bonjour L'Amour by Anne Sui (2007)

• Liberté by Cacharel (spring 2007 in Europe)

• Chopard Wish Turquoise Diamond (2007 in Europe)

• Christian Lacroix C'est La Fête (1st half of 2007 in Europe)

Upcoming Chanel 28 La Pausa {Fragrance News} {New Perfume}

I just read a great interview with beauty editor Linda Wells on Hello Dollface! She mentions in it that Chanel will be introducing a new perfume in February of 2007. It is called Chanel 28 La Pausa named after the resort residence of Coco Chanel in the town of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin located on the French riviera. The villa was originally built for her by her then lover the Duke of Westminster.

Gwen Stefani Signs Fragrance Deal With Coty {Fragrance News}

Singer and fashion brand owner Gwen Stefani is the latest celebrity to enter the Coty stable in its prestige division - like Jennifer Lopez and Sarah Jessica Parker - to collaborate on the creation of her signature scent.

The upcoming perfume will reflect Gwen Stefani's personality but also her fashion brand L.A.M.B.'s (an acronym for Love Angel Music Baby) image and is slated to debut in fall of 2007.

Coeur Joie, Fille d'Eve, Capricci, Farouche & L'Air du Temps by Nina Ricci {Fragrance News}

Nina Ricci has re-issued four of their much-loved and sought-after vintage fragrances in Les Parfums Collection. They are Coeur Joie, Fille d'Eve, Capricci, and Farouche and come in pure parfum concentrations. Crystal flacons are signed by Lalique and contain 15 ml of the precious elixirs.

L'Air du Temps extract has been issued in a numbered Christmas 2006 edition. 1368 bottles are available worldwide. Each bottle was hand-made by a master glassmaker and takes on opalescent and pearly hues for the occasion.

Re-Creations of Vintage Nina Ricci & Dior Fragrances {Fragrance News}

According to Le Temps vintage fragrances by Nina Ricci and Dior that had become rarities have been resuscitated and are now available. We had previously learned thanks to a reader of TSS that Coeur Joie was now available in the Nina Ricci flagship store in Paris.

The re-created perfumes are Farouche, Capricci, Fille d'Eve, and Coeur Joie by Nina Ricci as well as Diorling and Diorama by Dior. They are available at the Roja Dove Parfumerie at Harrods.

J'Adore by Dior in a Mega Giant Bottle {Fragrance News}

We were discussing earlier how come people would want to buy giant perfume bottles. Well, now we have Dior J'Adore that's even bigger and more intriguing than Habit Rouge. Indeed you would have to adore this stuff to be thinking of buying a 1.3 L flacon or 43.9 oz of the jus.

It retails for 564.30 Euros or 752.043 USD.

Are perfume bottles trying to compete with expensive wine bottles around Christmas?
