Daddy Yankee DYamante (2010) {New Fragrance} {Celebrity Perfume}

Dyamante-Daddy-Yankee.jpg

Reggaeton singer Daddy Yankee is launching his second perfume this month, this time a women's scent following his debut cologne Dy for Men (2008). It's called DYamante, combining references to both diamonds and love fantasies around the figure of no one but "El Cangri", one of his nicknames which means a handsome, well-fed man, a dandy, or the boss in Puerto Rican dialect. On his Twitter account, Daddy Yankee announced the launch with a tweet to his female following: "To all my sexy ladies here is DY "Amante."

DYAMANTE emphasizes the sophisticated and stylish side of a woman while inspiring the values, heritage and positivity that Daddy Yankee consistently represents....

Peter Andre Mysterious Girl (2010) {New Fragrance} {Celebrity Perfume}

mysterious-girl-peter-andre.jpg
English pop singer Peter Andre, after launching his debut scent in 2009 called Unconditional pour Femme followed by Conditional pour Homme in 2010 is returning to his female fan base with Mysterious Girl pour Femme named after one of his hit songs.

While Unconditional was reportedly a smashing success, being the bestselling celebrity scent at The Perfume Shop in the UK in 2009 with a bottle sold every 45 seconds, Conditional elicited more lukewarm reactions some hypothesized due to the bum tabloid rap about the singer and ex-wife Katie Price aka Jordan, as if this could not be an asset at times....

Tommy Hilfiger Loud for Her & Him (2010): From Woodstock to The Ting Tings & Co-Creating Music and Fragrance {New Fragrances}

Hilfiger-Loud-A.jpg
Tommy Hilfiger launched a new duo of fragrances this month called Loud for Her and Loud for Him. The quirk here is that the brand wanted to inaugurate a new creative approach this time and instead of releasing just an ad campaign jingle, they set the bar higher by asking British pop duo The Ting Tings to co-create music for them as inspired by the fragrances. The result is that the new song entitled "We're not the same" will be included in the group's upcoming album as a legit song (see teaser after the jump.) From a brand-management and fashion perspective, Hilfiger sees the new scents as addressing themselves to their denim purchasers, the gen-y generation which is one of the most important sources of inspiration for fragrance designers these days. Galliano recently hopped onto the bandwagon with his second masterbrand Parlez-Moi d'Amour fronted by Taylor Momsen (see launch party.)

"We wanted to make sure that we stayed connected to that consumer, but we also wanted it to be authentic. We are talking to a generation that craves the newest -- but they don't want gimmicky and fake. We didn't want something that professed to be a rock 'n' roll fragrance -- we wanted to have a real rock 'n' roll fragrance, and to do that we had to develop it in a way that has never been done in fragrance before."...

Faith Hill True (2010) {New Fragrance} {Celebrity Perfume}

true_faith-hill-ad.jpg
After Faith Hill, her debut fragrance launched in 2009, country singer Faith Hill did not wait long before following up with a second perfume last summer called True introduced with the tag line, "The new fresh fragrance."

"Inspired by casual sensuality and spirited femininity, Faith Hill True embodies a woman's incredible sense of self - pure, honest, and unabashed. Opening with a burst of exotic citrus, Faith Hill True weaves a breezy floral middle and finishes with a woody base of warmth and subtle sexuality."...

Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady (2010): Creative Improvisation {New Fragrance}

portrait of a lady-A.jpgThe upcoming launch by Editions de Parfums, spearheaded by Frédéric Malle its founder publisher and self-described evaluator, is called Portrait of a Lady. It is a composition signed by perfumer Dominique Ropion for whom Malle professes great admiration. The nose is the one who so far has contributed the most to the library of soon-to-be 19 fragrances at Editions de Parfums with Carnal Flower, Une Fleur de Cassie, Vétiver Extraordinaire, Géranium pour Monsieur and now Portrait of a Lady.

The new composition turns out to be a continuation in a sense of the work done on Géranium pour Monsieur as Portrait of a Lady is motivated by an almost pure-perfumery approach as it is based on an accord found within the previous composition...

Prada Infusion D'iris Eau de Toilette (2010): Want to Powder Your Décolleté? {New Fragrance}

Infusion-diris-edt.jpgPrada have finally released their latest perfume, Infusion D'Iris Eau de Toilette, which they had announced before for spring 2010 but which is only now making it to the boutique shelves. It might have been worth the wait as it turns out to be a new interpretation by perfumer Daniela Andrier.

This time it is a twist on the original Infusion d'Iris Eau de Parfum (2007), the latter which makes me think very much of a cool and crisp cinched white shirt and the allure of Grace Kelly.

Although initially proposed as just a lighter take on the Eau de Parfum, a quick sniff out of the bottle indicates a perceptible change of atmosphere with both a rootier and more silken iris and more powder thanks to the heliotrope note...

Jordin Sparks Because of You (2010): It's All About Being Fan Friendly {New Fragrance} {Celebrity Perfume}

Jordin-Sparks-because-of-you.jpgTV personality Jordin Sparks who won Season 6 of American Idol, sang the national anthem for Super Bowl 2008 as well as for the soundtrack of Walt Disney Beauty and the Beast (you can see perfume bottles in her video after the jump) will launch her debut fragrance this month. she says this is out of deference for her fans.

The perfume could have been called Giving Back but Because of You was probably thought to be more loving and grateful-sounding. Foremost on Sparks' mind is the imperative to offer both a qualitative and affordable fragrance which will be priced at $9,50 the first month of its launch at Dots then go up to $14,95 on November 1, 2010,

"In this economy especially, my fans deserve a high-quality, reasonably priced scent," ...

English Laundry by Christopher Wicks English Rose for Her, Arrogant for Him (2010) {New Fragrances}

Arrogant-English-Laundry.jpg
British designer Christopher Wicks of fashion and home-decor label English Laundry launched two perfumes in July of 2010 called English Rose, for Her and Arrogant, for Him. The brand likes to define itself as "The crossroad of fashion, rock and all things English." The city of Manchester is an important part of the mythology of the label. Arrogance is also seen as the necessary spice to add to any attempt at elegance, a word which recurs like a motto for the founder of the brand and sounds like a virtue, of sorts.

English Rose is said to be ethereal, delicate and "a purely peaceful scent," It is also seen as "perfect for the most feminine of women"...

Hermès Launch New Hermessence: Iris Ukiyoé (2010) {New Fragrance}

Iris-Ukiyoe-Bottle-A.jpgThe house of Hermès will launch their latest and 9th addition to the Hermessence collection of boutique fragrances called Iris Ukiyoé from the end of November 2010. Composed by in-house perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, the perfume is inspired by the genre of Japanese wood-block painting known as Ukiyo-e and meaning "images of the floating world." The perfume seems to refer more particularly within this tradition to the sub-genre of the iris garden (Hana Syoubu) although the press release is not explicit about this.

We are told, among other things, that Ellena is a collector of Ukiyo-e prints and that his perception of iris flowers cannot but be filtered by the visions of masters such as Hokusai (see below) and Hiroshige...

Dior J'Adore L'Or (2010): Upping the Essence Ante {New Fragrance}

dior-jadore-lor.jpgDior will launch a new iteration of their pillar fragrance J'Adore called J'Adore L'Or (I Adore Gold) from the end of October 2010. The new jus is said to be made in an "essence de parfum" concentration which sounds like a cross between a pure-extrait concept and that of an eau de parfum; it will be available in a 40 ml flacon for about 110,50€.

Head perfumer François Demachy has revisited the composition to bring out even richer and lusher floral facets thanks to essences sourced from Grasse in the south of France, a traditional and historical production center of floral essences. In particular, the house of Dior addressed themselves to "Domaine de Manon" a property operated by the same family for 3 generations...

tome-1-purete-ad.jpgAfter releasing Tome 1 La Pureté (Tome 1 Purity) (Part 2 of review here: Patchoulait), their debut perfume in 2009, French fashion label Zadig & Voltaire have encountered tangible enough success that they have had to enter into partnership with a bigger company, Clarins, FashionMag.fr announced this morning...

Dior Diorama Re-Edition (2010) {New Fragrance}

Diorama-edt.jpg
A more widely distributed edition of Christian Dior's classic fruity chypre by perfumer Edmond Roudnitska, Diorama (1949), is now available in department stores in the UK and US in Eau de Toilette version. Previously it was possible to place a special order for it at the Dior boutique in Paris but was it not commercialized along mainstream channels.

Dior have been working on enriching their collection of vintage classics entitled Les Créations de Monsieur Dior (The Creations of Mr. Dior.)

Diorissimo, the famous lily of the valley composition by the same nose mentioned above, had for instance more recently undergone a few liftings with the latest eau de parfum iteration re-establishing a better sense of balance to the composition than some previous alterations did...
