 Gucci has announced that they are preparing, in partnership with Procter & Gamble Prestige Products, to launch a new women's fragrance this fall called Gucci. It is the first time, under the stewardship of new artistic director Frida Gianinni that Gucci will use a TV advertisement campaign with a film that will be directed by acclaimed movie director David Lynch (Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive....) Kate Moss will launch her debut fragrance simply called Kate in September of 2007, first in Europe and Asia and later in the US in the spring of 2008. The new scent was composed y perfumer Nathalie Lorson of Firmenich and is described as a musky floral inspired by the theme of a black rose. This sounds promising......

Salvador Dali has issued a new masculine fragrance called Black Sun "created for men with refined manners and a brilliant intellect" - a sale pitch that is hard to resist obviously. It has top notes of basil, incense, and cedar leaves. Heart notes are geranium, clary sage, extract of resin of elemi. Base notes are Tonka beans, vanilla, vetiver. (Source: Parfumplus.ru)
Novaya Zarya - Nouvelle Etoile, a Russian fragrance brand which started off by producing soaps in 1864 and then perfumes in the 1870s and which has now partenered with Nouvelle Etoile, has launched two new fragrances these past few months. Temps de Femme is a feminine fragrance which "... opens with cherry, bitter almond, pear, strawberry and lemon, in the “heart” of the fragrance there are freesia, lily-of-the-valley, mimosa and violet, the lower notes contain vanilla, musk and praline. The package of the fragrance is designed in red colours, the bottle bears a star symbolizing eternity."......

This is their second venture together following the success of Lights of Champs-Elysées (which we liked quite a bit). It will be exlusively found at the network' stores in France and the UK......

Following up on her successful debut perfume Dianoche, Daisy Fuentes will introduce a new women's fragrance in July of 2007 called So Luxurious. The bottle, which looks quite a bit like that of Hilary Duff's With Love, was inspired by a ring worn by Fuentes, just like Duff by the way.....

 Vancouver-based independent natural perfumer Ayala Moriel of Ayala Moriel Parfums has launched a new fragrance for linden blossom lovers called Tirzah (Hebrew for "linden"). It is composed as a soliflore and is part of "The Language of Flowers" collection. Ayala Moriel explained that "The timing for the launch of Tirzah couldn't be better: linden blossoms are in full bloom throughout the month of June, emanating their delicate, honey-like aroma in the air. And what more - Tirzah is particularly suitable for a heat wave, with its top notes of green lemon zest and the cucumber-like mimosa, chilling heart notes of iris roots and a clean woody base of Fokienia with a hint of hay."......

Vivienne Westwood in partnership with Coty unveiled a new fragrance yesterday baptized Let It Rock. It is named after her first shop established in the 1970s in King's Road (loved to hang out in that neighborhood when I was a teen). Ingredients popular in the 70s were a direct source of inspiration for the perfume: rose, cedar and sandalwood, geranium, and patchouli......

 Following her spats with her Big Brother "inmates" (it looks awfully claustrophobic in there), Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty is back, not exactly with a vengeance, but rather with a signature perfume called S2 (pronounced "S square"). After having suffered at the hands of Jade Goody who was accused of being racist towards her on the TV show Big Brother and who saw her own perfume Shh....withdrawn from the shelves as a consequence of her attitude, Shilpa Shetty, it seems, is pointing the spray bottle back at her so to speak.......

 Guerlain will introduce a new perfume in July of 2007 called Quand Vient La Pluie (When The Rain Comes). It was conceived as a "prose poem" and created by perfumer Thierry Wasser together with artistic director Sylvaine Delacourte. The scent was inspired by the ambery effluvias of nature, by the woody accents of earth after a rain shower....

 Cosmetic News has announced that Tom Ford will issue Tom Ford for Men in September of 2007. It will retail in his freestanding stores, together with the whole Tom Ford Beauty range manufactured by the Estée Lauder companies. We learn as well that British actress Kate Winslet will be the new face for Lancôme Trésor in the new advertising campaign that will start globally in September of 2007. You can upload your own video paying homage to Trésor on a temporary website.
Guerlain will introduce a new feminine fragrance called L'Instant Magic on September 1 2007. As reported by the brand, the new perfume has no filiation whatsoever with the original L'Instant except for a sensation of freshness that cuts across the whole fragrance. Wouldn't it be more exciting to give it an altogether new name then? Apparently the needs of branding have overcome. Not only are the juices becoming more stereotypical, but the names of the perfumes are following that trend as well. Although please note that in this case, the perfume will be different, but the name will be confusingly similar to the original L'Instant........

Kenzo will launch a new men's fragrance in August of 2007 named Tokyo. It is inspired by the streaks of colors traversing the Tokyo-by-night landscape. The perfume was composed by Marie Salamagne of Firmenich who has decided to assign certain perfume notes to certain characteristic colors to recreate the visual impressions of a young man discovering the Japanese capital city for the first time after a long trip....
