Burger King Flame (2008/2009): Overtones of a Whopper {New Fragrance} {Perfume Images} {Celebrity Scent}

Burger King just introduced in the UK their meat-flavored personal perfume called Flame. They launched it last year in the US to wide popular appeal. The concept of the advertising campaign was so right-on that the vial spray perfumes sold out in 4 days. The scent was then faced by a Mr. Burger King, this time it is fronted in the same outrageously campy style by British celebrity Piers Morgan best-known internationally as the host of Britain's Got Talent and supporter and crush of singer Susan Boyle....

Frapin L'Humaniste (2009): An Homage to Rabelais and Humanism {New Perfume} {Men's Cologne}

Parfums Frapin, a perfumery extension of the famous Cognac brand, is launching a new men's perfume called L'Humaniste (The Humanist) as an homage paid to 16th century writer François Rabelais author of Pantagruel, Gargantua and more. The writer, physician and humanist also happens to be an ancestor of the Frapin family.

Ineke F-Field Notes from Paris (2009): Naturalist's Notes in the City {New Perfume} - Update

Perfumer Ineke Rühland of San Francisco has a new, 6th perfume coming out in her alphabet series called F-Field Notes from Paris. The fragrance is inspired by autobiographical memories from her sojourn in the City of Lights when she used to study at the perfumery school ISIPCA in Versailles in the late 1990s. In particular, the perfume is nurtured by a nostalgic outlook on iconic places like Parisian cafés and more precisely "It encapsulates the nostalgic ambience of nursing a coffee at a Parisian café."...

Benefit Cosmetics Crescent Row Laugh With Me LeeLee, There's Something About Sofia & My Place Or Yours Gina (2009) {Perfume Reviews} {New Fragrances}

This is an advance review of Crescent Row, the new triptyque of perfumes by Benefit Cosmetics to launch next month.

In the past, the brand issued a debut fragrance titled Maybe Baby followed by B Spot in 2008.

The new collection is more ambitious in terms of story-telling around the scents and is inspired by the creative and whimsical vision of sisters Maggie and Annie Ford Danielson, daughters of co-founder Jean Ford and nieces of Jane Ford....

Michel Germain Sexual Star (2009): Inescapable Aphrodisiacs {New Perfume}

Reese Witherspoon In Bloom (2009) {New Perfume} {Celebrity Fragrance}

After having acted as a perfume spokesperson for Ungaro U for Her by Avon, actress Reese Witherspoon will launch her first signature perfume in November 2009 with the same company. It's called In Bloom, which might be a bit confusing to some as a previous In Bloom by Avon was released in 2007 faced by actress Salma Hayek. The perfume does not appear to be listed on the Avon site anymore though so it looks like it was discontinued and the name recycled as it happens sometimes....

The Body Shop White Musk White Hot Summer/Ete Tropical (2009): Undefinable Sweetness {Perfume Review} {New Fragrance}

White Musk White Hot Summer / Eté Tropical (Tropical Summer in French) is the latest entry in The Body Shop library of white musks inaugurated in 1981 with White Musk. In the recent past the franchise has been reactivated with the creation of distinctive flankers (see White Musk for Men; White Musk Intrigue; White Musk Blush) and ancillary products. This summer we have yet another twist on the basic concept and I have to say that I was surprised by how good it is.

In contrast to the extrovert sunset-in-Acapulco-Escada-like bottle or the scrunchy-for-teens first impression, the perfume betrays a remarkable sense of subtlety and is a precisely calibrated composition in the genre of the "veil" fragrances that are particularly popular in the United States, but also have become acclimatized to countries like France...

Tom Ford Private Blend White Musk Collection: Jasmine Musk, Urban Musk, Musk Pure, White Suede (2009) {New Fragrances}

Tom Ford will launch a set of four perfumes in September 2009 linked by a musk theme as well as a white atmosphere as a color-themed continuation of White Patchouli and playing on the strong contrasted opposition of black, white and transparency found in his offerings. The fragrances billed as unisex with a feminine bent in the current societal context -- it's all fashion, says Ford -- are called Jasmine Musk, Urban Musk, Musk Pure and White Suede and are part of the Private Blend collection, the more upscale arm of the brand. It's also an opportunity for Ford to revisit the Seventies, his era of predilection which he often mentions when talking about his creative perfume projects from Gucci pour Homme to M7. At the same time, it's all very current,

"I was in the mood for something lighter and a little fresher. In the world today, we're all in the mood for something simple, fresh, light and a little less heavy. At least that's what I'm in the mood for,"...
