Ana Rosa Estilo (2009) {New Perfume} {Celebrity Fragrance}

ESTILO ANA ROSA2.jpg
Last fall 2009, a Spanish celebrity fragrance was launched in a category doubly less trodden: the celeb journalist perfume to support a humanitarian cause. Ana Rosa Quintana is a famous television anchor in Spain involved in several projects revolving around aid to disadvantaged children both in her home country and Latin America...

Mango Lady Rebel (2009) {New Perfume} - Rock' n Roll Gen Y Ladies {Trend Alert}

mango-lady-rebel-ad.jpg
Spanish fashion label Mango launched a new mass-market women's perfume in December 2009 called Lady Rebel.

The perfume's imagery and spirit is in the same vein as those of Lady Vengeance by Juliette Has a Gun, Paco Rabanne Black XS for Her, Ma Dame by Jean Paul Gaultier and Anna Sui Rock Me! The two latter scents are even fronted by the same model, Agyness Deyn who started to incarnate a spirit of reckless youth for Burberry The Beat and hasn't stopped since then...

Des Filles a la Vanille: Update on Slew of 2009 Launches {New Perfumes}

Avec-Toi-Sous-les-ETOILES.jpgI foresee that in January 2010, I will need to add fragrances to the site that were launched in 2009 and that I would like to keep track of. I could add them to the database or follow the blog format and put them on the home page. Hope the latter option is not a hindrance for a little while.

I posted last year about several Des Filles à la Vanille 2009 launches. I just realized they had been working to their death last year and introduced some 25-30 fragrances or so in between.

It is difficult to date their perfumes because the brand does not feel comfortable with the idea of talking about "nouveautés" or new launches, as I found out. They prefer to think in terms of what they have in stock in their boutiques of clothing at any given time. Part of the reason for this attitude might be that the fragrances by Des Filles à la Vanille are able to multiply thanks to small increments of change and also thanks to the key notion of the "perfume twist." You can thus find sub-libraries of musks or patchoulis or vanillas or ambers that play on variations.

Let's put some order in that heap of perfume bottles.

There is a sub-collection called Princesse Hippie which includes a patchouli, amber, musk and vanilla scents. They are called Ambre Princesse Hippie or Vanille Princesse Hippie...

Jovan Black Musk for Women & Men (2009): It's What Attracts {New Perfumes}

jovan-black-musk-duo.jpg
Musk addicts can now try a new duo of musk scents by Jovan called Black Musk for Women and Black Musk for Men. The original Jovan Musk was marketed by Bernard Mitchell and Barry Shipp in 1972 and still screams of the 1970s. It was inspired by youth perfume-street-wear in Greenwich Village at the time. The scent was followed by Jovan White Musk in the 1990s, the decade of transparent perfumes showing its influence. Will Black Musk herald an era of deeper fragrances?...

The Beautiful Mind Series Intelligence & Fantasy (2010) {New Perfume}

intelligence-fantasy-beautiful-mind-series.jpgAedes have announced the January 2010 launch of a new perfume label, The Beautiful Mind Series which will be inaugurated with Intelligence and Fantasy composed by perfumer Geza Schoen of Molecule-01 repute. The nose wanted to tie in his love of women and intelligence by exploring his own definition of sexiness: "The Beautiful Mind is meant to remind us that a smart woman is a sexy woman."

"The launch of The Beautiful Mind fragrance series marks an unprecedented collaboration between a well-known nose, a renowned graphic design company - and an intellectual prodigy.

They are, respectively, Berlin-based Geza Schoen, MeCompany in London and Christiane Stenger who, at the age of 12, became a Grandmaster of Memory and the Junior World Memory Champion at the World Memory Championships. She subsequently won the competition four more times."...

Madonna Nudes 1979 Musical, Sensual (2010) {New Fragrances} {Celebrity Fragrance}

madonna-nude-1979.jpg
Following the launch of an initial quatuor of Madonna Nudes 1979 scents in 2006, four more perfumes will be introduced in 2010. To begin with, Musical and Sensual will appear early next year.

The collection is not endorsed by Madonna but makes reference to her portfolio of 34 so-called nude pictures taken by photographer Martin Schreiber in 1979, which includes a few where she is still clothed (see above). She was 21, still unknown, and has no copyrights over these images.

These celebrity fragrances of sorts are nevertheless inspired by her life...

Eva Longoria Eva (2010) {New Perfume} {Celebrity Fragrance}

eva-longoria-perfume-ad.jpg

Actress Eva Longoria will launch her debut signature perfume in April of 2010. It is called Eva. The composition was developed with the Falic Fashion Group which have already tried their hand at celebrity-fragrance development with a Daddy Yankee cologne in the fall of 2008. It will not be part of the Desperate-Housewives franchise like Forbidden Fruit and a 2009 quatuor of scents by LR Health & Beauty Systems called Bree, Susan, Lynette and Gabrielle, although no doubt will benefit from it.

Eva Longoria of Desperate-Housewives fame and who is additionally married to French basketball player Tony Parker was thought to have the right international profile and appeal.

She is popular on French TV thanks to her marriage to Parker. It remains to be seen whether or not the French will cave in if only a little to the celebrity-fragrance trend to which they seem impervious...

L'Essence des Notes: The First Line of Eaux de Parfum Sold in Pharmacies (2009) {New Perfumes}

essence-des-notes-B.jpg
L'Essence des Notes is a new collection of nine Eaux de Parfum which presents the particularity of being distributed exclusively through pharmacies or more precisely para-pharmacies, those sections in French pharmacies that focus on wellness and beauty.

The most ubiquitous brand there must be Roger et Gallet. In some locations where fragrance offerings are more developed you can find brands such as Comptoir Sud Pacifique, Crabtree & Evelyn, Caudalie etc.

The collection bottled in basic flacons is a bit reminiscent of the Chanel bottles, only simpler and look more like perfume-fragrances than toiletry-fragrances...

Beyonce Heat (2010) {New Perfume} {Celebrity Fragrance}

heat-beyonce-ad-B.jpg

Perfume-review-logo-3-B.jpg{A fragrance review of Beyoncé Heat was added to the blog!}

Singer Beyoncé Knowles feels she is ready to launch her first signature perfume and because she loves red and gold and does everything with love and passion, it's called Heat. The tag line is "Catch the fever." It's been tested the way only a touring singer can, by getting the spontaneous inputs of countless fans getting up close with her. So far it's reported to be a win.

"I learned a lot of great things from the past -- but I always asked myself, 'If I could have my own scent, what would it be?' I wasn't worried about deadlines. It could have taken me three, four, however many years -- this was my first fragrance, and I wanted to make sure that it was something I would love forever."...

Ralph Lauren Polo Red, White and Blue (2009) {New Fragrance} {Men's Cologne}

red-white-blue-polo-lauren.jpg

Ralph Lauren have introduced a new flanker to Polo Blue (2003), itself a successful flanker to the original Polo (1978).

The new Polo perfume is called Polo Red, White and Blue. It is reportedly inspired by snowy mountain peaks and winter sports. The Eau de Toilette launches with the tag line "EMBRACE THE CHILL AND DISCOVER THE THRILL."...

Garancia Eau de Sourcellerie (2009): The First Powdery Aromatic & Eau de Decollete {New Perfume} {Beauty & Olfaction}

eau-de-sourcellerie-B.jpgGarancia, a beauty brand making systematic references to magical traditions while using unusual animal-sourced ingredients such as snake venom has introduced a debut fragrance which aims to be both a skincare product and a novel perfume composition.

Eau de Sourcellerie is named after a legend about giant 3-meter-high stags called Mégaceros who turn out to have existed and can be seen reconstituted at the Prehistory Museum at Eyzies de Tayac. The animals according to folklore are reported to have known the existence of a fountain of eternal youth called Sourcellerie...

Zara Winter (2009): Uncanny Resemblance {New Perfume} {Hasty Review}

Ansel-Adams-El-Capitan--Winter--embossed--5010.jpgZara has launched a series of new fragrances which are almost all featured on their website, except for a few like Winter and Silver Musk as far as I can tell.

I am trying to contain a nascent laughter as I use the expression "uncanny resemblance" once more today as I applied it recently to Renato Balestra's "new" scent Diamante Nero because it might very well become a tag set-phrase for identifying replica scents.

In this case, I am able to be more affirmative because while I do not know the notes that make up Winter, I was able to smell the fragrance...
