Last fall, Vieille-France candle maker Cire Trudon Est. 1643, launched a new limited-edition scent in their candle collection called Calabre.
"On the coasts of Calabria, the aromas of licorice fill the air of the shores and sail towards Africa. Mingling, thanks to the wind, with the rich scents of myrrh and incense, they blow the lines of a Mediterranean canticle."...

Sisley launched a new man's fragrance last year dedicated to the sky as the symbol of men's unreasonable artistic aspirations. The tag line for Eau d'Ikar, named after Icarus, is "A fragrance poised between sea and sky." The brand also muses that "It is about about both frailty and courage, about a man ready to start on the path of an adventure while being conscious of the fragility of all human ambitions." That man "is not afraid to look at the heavens"...

When the first Marc Jacobs Splash trio launched in 2006, what everyone could not fail to notice was their humongous and unconventional tabletop sizes at 10 fl. oz.
This spring-summer of 2012, the fashion designer is doing two things different. The first one, is that he is re-introducing Rain from the debut collection, which is back by popular demand. A fresh, clean and crisp-as-a-white-shirt-back-from-the-cleaners fragrance, to us, it smells quintessentially American-clean. The second noteworthy fact, is that the bottles have shrunk and are now downsized to a standard 3.4 fl. oz. It's not quite a travelling size yet - well, it is for them - but we're getting there. The new, limited-edition Marc Jacobs Splash Tropical Collection comprises Rain, Kumquat and Hibiscus...

Thierry Mugler will launch their second scent dedicated exclusively to the Middle Eastern market after the oud-rich Miroir des Voluptés in 2010. It is called Miroir des Majestés and takes inspiration from the ostentatious, sumptious palaces of the Orient. "Miroir des Majestés (Mirror of Majesties) is a new addition to the Miroir Miroir Collection [from 2008]. It offers women the possibility to take center stage and reveal the queen of the thousand and one nights hidden in each one of us; an invitation to discover a world of opulence, dedicated to the exhilaration of the senses, where golden mirrors meld with the most precious objects."...

Last year, a new perfume brand was established in Marrakech called Les Sens de Marrakech. They work in collaboration with perfumers from Grasse but specify that their scents are made in the Moroccan city.
Their aim is to capture emotions and images, vignettes from the Orient. Another credo is that they rely as much as they can on natural essences except when too much of those start posing allergenic problems. They stress that they follow IFRA regulations and that there are no Phtalates in their scents. The label launched five initial fragrances in July 2011 in Morocco and in September 2011 at the international level: Oranger, Ambre, Tubéreuse, which are feminine, and Cuir and Encens which are unisex....

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, so it's time to look at your perfume options. Last year, the brand specialized in sexy, Booty Parlor, introduced a perfume oil laced with pheromones. Just so that you don't miss this little potion of love, it's been named Flirty Little Secret Perfume Oil with Pheromones. Now, you only need a tee-shirt with the same stamped on it, and nobody will miss the cue. But seriously, fragrance and the art of love have been in a very serious relationship since the beginnings of times. It's one of the great motivators of the fragrancing gesture and quest...

Axe is now de facto tapping into the more aspirational and prestige market by turning their attention to women's tastes with a new duo of scents called Axe Anarchy for men and women. Feminine fragrances are usually priced at a higher point, are more concentrated and generally motivate more research.
Until now, Axe had been targeting the stereotypical young male who wears fragrance only because he views it as a means to attract women, not for the love of perfume...

Escada have launched their summer edition for 2012, a trio of limited-edition scents. They are called Sexy Graffiti, Rock'in Rio and Island Kiss. Sexy Graffiti is making a stop this time in New York City. Last year, the estival edition was about India, with Taj Sunset. "A magical summer moment, when the late New York afternoon sun gives way to a fun party atmosphere, inspired this fragrance. It's the time when cocktails flow, music plays, and the beautiful people make their way to the rooftop club. As the sun sets on the cityscape around you, the music captures the mood and takes you away from the city heat. The joyful ambience washes over you and the moment is imprinted on your memory as forever fun."...

The eau de parfum and parfum in oil form are still available on the brand's website, as is the eau de toilette too, but in a different flacon and at a higher price point...

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana will expand their The One franchise with the introduction of a new men's perfume dedicated to the practice of sports. It is their first sports cologne. It is no coincidence that 2012 is the year of the XXXth Olympiads, with the summer Olympics Games to be held in London, one the fashion capitals of the world. The jus, called Dolce & Gabbana The One Sport, is meant to capture the feel-good sensation one experiences at the end of a physical effort, hence for Gabbana, the transparency of the bottle. He said,

Orange and spices are one of the great traditional combinations of scents smelled during the Holidays in tea, pomander or cooking forms. If oranges are summery, they are also wintry (see L'Occitane Ruban d'Orange and Creed Orange Spice.) By mixing the juiciness of a summery fruit - with its natural solar accents - and the woody nuances of antique spices which usually help preserve the flesh and the memory of an orange pierced with cloves, you get a fragrance which is like a generous splash of outdoorsy sunshine in a wood-pannelled library lit by a roaring fire. Azemour Les Orangers by Parfum d'Empire is an hesperidic chypre perfume which does not feel out of place when worn on the other side of the Winter Solstice...
