 Lanvin will launch a new women's fragrance called Marry Me! which is meant to embody the spirit of a "modern romance." Accent here is put on sentimental enthusiasm - on the exclamation point that is - rather than commitment - and thus the word "marry" - as the idea is to evoke this magical moment which will make you want to say "Marry me!" without meaning it necessarily literally. In other words, the scent is not really rooting for the institution of marriage but rather uses marriage as a figure of expressive speech; it seems to want to tap into contemporary sensibilities, in particular young people's fear of commitment which must be seen as a societal trend...

 Bulgari Man officially launched in Milan yesterday with actor Clive Owen in attendance. The scent will debut in September 2010. Owen is the face of the fragrance after having been hired for the same role previously for Lancôme Hypnôse for Men in 2007.   A couple of days ago I got contacted by a YSL PR with a rather vague announcement about a new fragrance by the brand. The only thing a bit defining I was able to take away was that it was about a " new-generation Opium." Did they mean a new formulation? Were they fessing up in public about some change in ingredients? What was all this about? After asking for some clarification which in return provided some further nebulous answers, "It is a new and updated, more modern version of the classic YSL fragrance. They are relaunching the scent today! "

 Further details emerged after our announcement yesterday about a new feminine fragrance by Chloé called - now we can confirm it - Love, Chloé. It will be available from September 2010. The launch party was held in a 1970s revivalist atmosphere in Paris and when you catch a glimpse or two of the commercial directed by Roman Coppola (the son of and brother of), it really feels like Raquel Zimmerman's springy step and way of wearing her trousers and hair were inspired by the iconic Charlie commercials of the precisely said decade...

 Mariah Carey has unveiled her new trio of perfumes Ribbon, Honey, and Mine Again to debut next month on July 1st 2010. They are all part of the Lollipop Bling concept which we made an announcement about earlier on. The story of the candy-inspired scents goes back to Carey's marriage proposal which was done with a twist by husband Nick Cannon: he put a real engagement ring in a Pop Ring.
