 Coty has announced that it has signed a licensing deal with Karl Lagerfeld to develop a line of signature fragrances. It will continue to distribute the existing Karl Lagerfeld perfumes.
Fashion label Luciano Soprani will launch a women's fragrance in September of 2007 in Italy called D Luciano Soprani. The "D" letter stands for Donna (Woman). The fruity-floral perfume was created by Pierre Bourdon of Fragrance Resources. The EdP is priced €47 for 50ml and €64 for 100ml. (Sources: Women's Wear Daily, Cosmetic News, New Yorker)
 As announced earlier, Robert Piguet is preparing to re-launch one of the classic fragrances from its catalogue called Visa, a perfume which debuted in 1945 and was created by celebrated perfumer Germaine Cellier. The jus "has been rebalanced to blend modern radiance and retro glamour." It will be part of a duet launch together with Cravache. The perfumer responsible for the reformulation is Aurélien Guichard who also took care of modernizing Baghari, reissued last year. Previously, Fracas and Bandit had been reintroduced as well, in 1996 and 1999 respectively......

As announced earlier, Robert Piguet's classic fragrance from 1963, Cravache (Riding Crop), will be re-launched in October of 2007 having been reportedly rebalanced to better suit modern tastes while respecting the heritage of the house. It follows the recent re-introduction and reformulation of Baghari last year, while Fracas and Bandit had been already relaunched, respectively in 1996 and 1999. Cravache is described as "an aromatic infusion of citrus and woods [which] embodies Robert Piguet's sense of refined sophistication and quality.......

 This fall Kilian Hennessy will introduce a brand new collection of six perfumes regrouped in a line called L'Oeuvre Noire (The Black Work) under the general label By Kilian, which apparently will be subdivized into other smaller ones such as By Kilian Don't be Shy and By Kilian Prohibited. The fragrances are inspired by a mix of 18th French literature and 19th century French poetry references, from Choderlos de Laclos to Baudelaire, Verlaine, and Rimbaud .....

British fashion designer Paul Smith launched his latest perfume simply called Rose. The jus centers of a new rose breed that was specially and lovingly cultivated for him by his wife Pauline as a birthday present and baptized "Sir Paul Smith". The designer said,

As previously announced, British celebrity Coleen McLoughlin has now launched her signature perfume called in the end Coleen X. If ever proof was needed that celeb fragrances are more than other types of perfumes about image, image, image, here we have it. Already public conversations center more on the photoshopped image of the young woman on the advert than on her recent contribution to perfumery. In case anyone is interested the new perfume features a “top note of sweet orange with a heart of marine accords and patchouli and a base of vanilla, amber and musk” and was developed with Robertet. Estée Lauder Pleasures Delight is the latest twist on the original Pleasures introduced in 1995. This new perfume will be a permanent addition to the collection of Pleasures fragrances, which apart from the original also comprises Pleasures Intense (2002) and Pleasures Exotic (2004).
This time, the inspiration is indulgently and charmingly gourmand with sweet notes of whipped strawberry meringue, sugared rose petals, caramel, and fluffy marshmallow delicately folded into the fragrance. The scent is comforting, sheer, and very pretty, evoking the carefree atmosphere of a holiday spent by the sea in an elegant resort like Martha’s Vineyard eating Italian strawberry and vanilla ice-cream accented with a dash of patchouli added by a slightly eccentric new-cuisine local chef and accompanied preferably by a long drink of refreshing cool peony-scented water that is almost tea-like in its delicacy.......

 German fashion brand Jil Sander will launch a new masculine fragrance in September in Europe called Man, which is proposed as the feminine counterpart to Style introduced last year. The aromatic woody scent was created by Thierry Wasser in cooperation with Annick Menardo (Firmenich). It opens with notes of lavender, bergamot and violet, has a heart of sage and vetiver and a base of blue cedar and myrrh. The bottle is composed of two dark blue cubes, and, like its woman counterpart, was designed by Patrick Veillet.
It targets the "30-35 year old modern aesthete" and aims to promote a more international image for the German label. (Source: Cosmetic News)
 Celebrity fragrances smack of opportunism, but they are also fascinating in some sense as they mirror and shape, sometimes very successfully, the desires and dreams of the average consumer. There is also always the possibility that the fragrance will smell suprisingly good if the energy and money that go into advertising trickle into the scent itself as well. It is a little bit like a lottery game; we suspect that like the celebrities themselves the scents could be excessively bad or good, but never dull until we get a sniff of the jus and discover that well, yes, the celeb jus can also be yawn-inducing. But there exist a level of anticipation and pop culture excitement a priori that is of course priceless for fragrance developers......

Coty Beauty will be counting this fall on its stable of celebrity fragrances to cause a stir. The Beckhams after Intimately Beckham will launch Intimately Beckham Night for Men and Women, reportedly its sexiest offering to date.
Intimately Beckham Night for men combines spicy and citrus notes with a masculine floral heart and a warm base of amber, patchouli, vetiver and tonka bean. The women’s scent meanwhile features top notes of tangerine, bergamot and cinnamon, a white floral heart of lily, tuberose and orange blossom and a base of sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla, tonka bean and myrrh. The duo launches in September and comes complete with a full range of ancillary products, and is priced £26 for 50ml edt.......

Hugo will launch a duo of perfumes on September 3rd 2007 called XX and XY. They are meant to suggest seduction as always with an added dose of aggression as well, mirroring in this sense the competitive relationship that exist between men and women, dixit the press release. The flacons were inspired by paint spray bottles.
XY has notes of green pear, basil, mint, crushed iced, Lebanese cedar, and patchouli. XX presents affinities with XY, yet develops different nuances. It includes notes of litchee, basmati rice, sambac jasmine, and sandalwood. (Source: FashionMag.fr)
