Lolita Lempicka Eau du Désir (2010): Eau de Cologne & Extrait in One...Who Knew? {New Perfume}

eau-du-désir-lempicka.jpg©Lolita Lempicka

This spring, French designer Lolita Lempicka is introducing a perfume which aims to be innovative as it is structured both like an Eau de Cologne and a Pure Parfum or Extrait, all at the same time. It is a little like attempting to put snow and fire in the same bottle as each of these two fragrance genres are usually found at the opposite ends of a spectrum, not in the same flacon.

Eau du Désir reveals a desire to overcome a commonly advertised chasm: the one separating light-fragrance lovers from deep-perfume lovers. Lolita Lempicka are taking a different approach and think that there are women who like both sensations and they are attempting to satisfy them...

Chanel Calls Chance Eau Tendre its Third Generation of the Chance Fragrance Family (2010) {New Perfume}

Perfume-review-logo-3-B.jpg{A fragrance review of Chanel Chance Eau Tendre Eau de Toilette has been added to the blog!]

The perfume house of Chanel has been working diligently on updating their classics, most notably resulting in Eau Première, a more luminous and historical twist on the iconic No5 (see also Cristalle Eau Verte.)

But if a long 86-year span separates the original No5 (1921) from its descendant Eau Première released in 2007 then recalled for a technicality and finally launched to everyone's satisfaction in 2008, the new Chance Eau Tendre (see ad) is only 8 years younger than the original Chance (2002). Yet it is called by Chanel its "third generation of the Chance fragrance family." If you needed any more proof that Chanel is working for the long haul and toiling along the lines of a genealogical road map, here you have it...

Hanae-Mori-No2-B.jpg

While this spring 2010 the US market is just discovering the first fragrance by Hanae Mori to launch in their newly-minted collection of eco-conscious sustainable perfumes called Eaux de Collection which debuted with No1, the French market will be able to discover both No1 and No2 at the same time.

Eau de Collection No2 is already out in France although its launch has been discreet. Indeed, the event does not belie the opening line which introduces both fragrances as "Le secret le mieux gardé de Madame Hanae Mori", "The best-kept secret of Hanae Mori"...

The concept behind the line is twofold: to open up its space like an art gallery would by welcoming visual artists who are asked to illustrate the packagings with their works, as well as to offer what the brand calls "anti-consensual" fragrances...
