Creed Royal-Oud (2011) {New Perfume}

royal-oud_creed.jpgEarlier this year, Creed launched their own oud opus called Royal-Oud. It has become a must to release an oud fragrance these days. Faithful to their usual privileged sources of inspiration, Creed are moreover proposing a cross-cultural oud perfume which reflects the luxury of both Parisian and Persian palaces.

"Wood, leather marble and gold,” elements of a royal Persian palace, inspire Olivier CREED, sixth-generation master perfumer of France, an architect of fragrance, to create new Royal-Oud for men and women.  Rare, hypnotic, sumptuous oud, an ingredient coaxed from Agarwood trees of India –- and more costly per ounce than palladium –- lends its power to this blend."...

Black_Up_perfume.jpgBlack Up, the leading French makeup brand whose vivid, saturated tints are dedicated to "black and mixed-race beauties", have launched their first fragrance called Black Up. The eau de parfum, composed by perfumer Dora Baghriche-Arnaud of Firmenich, is described as a floral-oriental aiming 25 to 35 year-old women.

In a very hands-on approach, Jo Malone herself appears in videos on the brand's site to speak about the emotions provoked in her by Pomelo, Green Orange & Coriander, Orange Tulle and Gardenia...

Miss Dior Couture Edition (2011): Re-Reformulation {New Fragrance}

miss_dior_couture_edition.jpgDior have launched a new, limited edition of a perfume which they call Miss Dior Couture Edition. The confusing part can be felt over the choice of the name of the fragrance.

"Miss Dior" designates the original green leather chypre from 1947, which is still available today. The look of the" flacon on the other hand, with its palette of nude pinks, seems to be a reference to the new-generation "Miss Dior Chérie." Either there was a printing mistake on the label or the brand is playing an obscure branding strategy...

Bella's Scent Captured in Immortal Twilight (2011) {New Fragrance} {Celebrity Scent}

Immortal_Twilight_Perfume.jpgWith recurring references to scents and that of Bella in particular, the Twilight Saga creates at times a sense of disquietingly perceptive olfactory sensations. As Breaking Dawn Part 1 is set to open in theaters on November 18, 2011, company Twilight Beauty are launching a new perfume called Immortal Twilight which is the interpretation of how Bella smells to Edward,

"Bella’s scent is irresistible to all vampires, especially Edward. The way she smells is otherworldly and one of the reasons Edward is powerfully drawn to her from the moment of their first encounter...."

Cartier Les Heures du Parfum L'Heure Convoitée (2011): Killer Carnation {Perfume Review & Musings} {New Fragrance}

Cartier_L_Heure_Convoitée.jpgL'Heure Convoitée II (The Coveted Hour) is the newest and 9th addition to the collection Les Heures du Parfum by Cartier which assembles the freer compositions of the house by in-house perfumer Mathilde Laurent. It is what Les Exclusifs are to Chanel, Hermessences to Hermès and La Collection Privée to Dior, only more selective still in terms of distribution and price. These collections are the special preserves of perfumers where one always expect to happen on rarer ideas and more personal introspections. The atmosphere of these selective libraries can be so choosy as to allow for the luxury of compositions that are more sketches than magisterial works.

This time, the inspiration is taken from the color red, like desire, and the atmosphere of a certain brand of light-hearted, playful French sensuality as built up in the song "Déshabillez-Moi" written by Robert Nyel, composed by Gaby Verlor, and interpreted by Juliette Gréco. Fetishistic notes have been used to suggest parts of the feminine body, but the composition turns out to be centered on carnation supported by two other main floral notes: red roses and iris....

Cartier Les Heures du Parfum L'Heure Convoitée (2011): Oeillet Oeillade {New Fragrance} {Perfume Review & Musings}

Cartier_L'heure_convoitée.png

Madonna Makes Herself More Accessible with Truth or Dare (2012) {New Fragrance} {Celebrity Perfume}

Madonna_Truth_Dare_OK.jpgIf you buy a celebrity fragrance for the celebrity and not the jus, then it must be because you want to purchase a piece of them. Madonna herself was inspired by the charisma of her own mother seen through her child's eyes and the memory of her fragrance to create her upcoming perfume, Truth or Dare. Although she doesn't say what compositions her mother wore, she picks out the notes as being those two great American pop icons, gardenia and tuberose,

“She always smelled like gardenias and tuberose, an intoxicating mixture [that was] feminine and mysterious. I wanted to re-create this scent, but with something fresh and new about it as well. Something honest and yet daring — hence the name Truth or Dare.”....

Dolce & Gabbana Go Nicher with The Velvet Collection (2011) {6 New Fragrances}

dolce_gabbana_velvet_collection.pngDolce & Gabbana have been working on a library of plush, velvety scents inspired by the aromas of the Mediterranean - Sicily in particular - and their fashion designs. The result looks like a baroque Italian version of Tom Ford Private Blend. Their constant themes of inspiration find new echoes in the collection called The Velvet Collection which is more niche, i.e., exclusive in tone, fragrance design, bottle styling, and price point. There are six new fragrances, three with mood titles and three with perfumery-ingredient titles: Velvet Sublime, Velvet Love, Velvet Desire, Velvet Wood, Velvet Vetiver, Velvet Patchouli...

Jacomo It's Me for Her and Him (2011): "So Me" {New Fragrances}

Jacomo_It's_me_fragrances.jpgJacomo have decided to address in a frontal manner the issue of the loss of personality and identity in a world which cultivates conformism with two new perfumes, a duo called It's Me for Her and It's Me for Him.

"it's me" is an affirmation of our singularity in a world which has a tendency to erase it :
it's my life, it's my love, it's my friends, it's my dreams, it's my feelings... it's me !....
